Ben Harper and The Innocent Criminals – Burn to Shine: This is Harper’s best album, the culmination of his career, once he’s sublimated his young man anger and lets his true songwriting fire break through. There are so many gold tracks on this release. A lot of rawness and honesty here.

  1. “Please Bleed” is enough, but there are so many more. The heartache, the begging of one’s hateful beloved to show an ounce of humanity–it is so bare and naked and *true*.
