UK, 1965, English folk / folk baroque

Martin Carthy – Martin Carthy: One of the English folk revival architects, Carthy sings convincingly of the magical, mildly surprising, often witty themes found in traditional folk ballads. This is how the album starts, with a theme of war, death, and separation.
One standout for me in this one is “The Trees They Do Grow High”, which I also enjoy when sung by Joan Baez.
