China, 2008, progressive folk / avant-folk

美好药店 [Glamorous Pharmacy]脚步声阵阵 (Rumbling Footsteps): Though it doesn’t sound very Chinese, this album is an excellent addition for anyone who’s acclimated his ears to gruff, manly Russian folk. Because that’s what this sounds like: rough, confident, loose. The accordion holds this whole affair together. One of the tracks was even composed by Iva Bittová. Heavy on the vocal histrionics.
