USA, 2022, avant-garde jazz / chamber jazz

Mary HalvorsonAmaryllis: “Anesthesia” is simply brilliant, a brave, playful exploration of Halvorson’s varied influences, and, oh my, this sextet is tight throughout, masterfully improvising rollicking tracks that (sometimes) challenge the ear but don’t overstay their welcome. I love it when improvisational wanderings coalesce.

  1. The flower is more properly known as the amaryllis belladonna, for they are both of the same type, though the amaryllis belladonna is not nearly so poisonous.

A lovely floral connection between the two sister albums.
