Vanessa Rossetto / Lionel Marchetti – The Tower (The City): The tower is never quiet. If nothing else, the wind howls constantly through the corridors. The city is never quiet. If nothing else, the subway hums continuously through the tunnels. I’m not even close to anything approaching proficient in talking about field recordings or musique concrète, but this album so perfectly knows what it’s doing that even a dullard can recognize the craft. Crawl down the inverted Tower of Babel, closer, closer to the ground, to the point where you can hear the highway, where you can hear the crickets. There is such a comforting spirit enveloping this whole project.
