France, 2021, avant-folk / Auvergnat folk

Sourdure – De mòrt viva: I love the energetic vocals, the fiery, off-kilter vielle (a Medieval stringed instrument similar to a violin), the dancing cabrette (bagpipe), and the droning concertina (accordion), but the band’s Bandcamp page for this release is a load of hogwash that makes Alice Coltrane sit up from her grave and applaud. Soil. That’s what this album makes me think of. Dark, rich soil. Whatever’s planted in it is sure to flourish.
