San Salvador – La grande folie: This makes me think of what early DakhaBrakha might sound like if they cut out the strings. A lot of overlapping, multi-part, harmonious chanting–all very tight–that slowly works in percussive elements until a crescendo is reached. Just so you know going into this one: not only do all six members of this band sing, they all clap hands, too. A very important detail. People on RYM are having nosebleeds over this album; it’s good, but it’s not “ermahgerd I’ve heard nothing like this!!” good.
