Toumani Diabaté With Ballaké SissokoNew Ancient Strings

There is an underlying hypnotic, repetitive groove that runs through this album, much like the music of western Africa, but above that rises the enchanting dual kora, a 21-string instrument that is part lute, part harp. To me, it sounds more like a harp. This collaborative recording brings two kora masters together to invoke Diabaté’s compositions.
