Poland, 2019, rembetika
Rembetika is popularly referred to as “Greek blues”, and this collaborative recording features a deep, expressive vocalist and a carefree, evocative accordion player. From my brief research, I think the songs herein are not original compositions but tunes from the 1920s and 30s, but of course they are performed with the artists’ own interpretations and improvisations.
