Canada, 2017, big band / video game music / jazz

Kristofer MaddiganCuphead

I don’t play different kinds of video games and really know nothing about them, the subculture, or the music, so when I saw the genres listed for this, I queued the album up and said to myself, “I’m just going to listen to this as if it were a normal album, not a video game soundtrack.” And yes, I am impressed. There’s a lot going on here, and it’s all charming. Light, playful pianos, jolly tubas, and a fun string quartet. This is a long album, so for me, this is great as background music when doing something else.
