Japan, 2010, art pop / indie pop

Shugo TokumaruPort Entropy: Like so much Japanese music, this album is framed in images of nature, like persimmon trees (which are everywhere here), the sea, and the sky. Oh, and don’t forget mountains. They’re everywhere, too. I feel like this music is rushing gleefully down the wrong road, only to discover that by choosing it, it became right. The cracks-in-the-sidewalk rule is still in effect, though: just skip over them! And don’t try to understand the music…it’s purposefully cryptic.
