The Beach BoysSmiley Smile: This is just a meta thing I want to comment on, but I was so relaxed listening to Tangerine Dream’s Rubycon on my headphones, totally slipping away into the calm, empty end of the album, and then all of a sudden “I’ve been in this town so long…” blasts in and scares the everloving fuck out of me. Anyway, about this album—it’s got such a playful, carefree feeling, and I actually prefer it to some of the Boys’ canonical albums. I mean, when you make vegetables this appealing, how can even children turn up their noses at them? This thing is all over the place, and I approve.
