Traffic – Traffic: A lot of the albums in my collection just float around in my mind without a real-world anchor, but this one has an anchor: cleaning the house. This is just a great album, robust and strong enough to be on while concentrating on something physical like housework without the music blending into the background and just being forgotten. There’s a nice clash of the blues with jazz on this album, in a battle of the songwriters, as it were.
I often find the contrast between a delicate album and a robust one to be a fruitful consideration.
