Godspeed You! Black EmperorLift Yr. Skinny Fists Like Antennas to Heaven!: This album is a masterpiece, that goes without saying, but after the forlorn Coney Island monologue, the whole work turns into pure magic. It’s like everything before that was a prologue, a warm-up. On this most recent listen, I lay in bed with my wife and held the portable Bluetooth speaker in my hand, indulging in a bit of experimentation as I moved the speaker around, waving it, holding it close to my ear and then hers, making the music a toy, which suited the album quite well.
