The Alan Parsons Project – I Robot: Despite the cheese (or maybe because of it), this album works for me. I enjoy the concepts of loneliness and paranoia in a crowded world, where you feel like everyone is against you, and then suddenly everyone is gone. As a robot, you’ve outlived everyone, and then in a blatant 2001: A Space Odyssey moment, there’s an eclipse that heralds the end of everything, putting to rest at last not only the robot but his lonely memories.
Of *course* an album of “I Robot” would be prog. Reading this makes me want to reread the book!
