Netherlands, 1971, progressive rock / Canterbury scene

Supersister – To the Highe$t Bidder: The more pastoral the flautist, the more I’m going to like the prog rock, and this album’s flute work creates a beautiful, gentle atmosphere, the keyboards following suit with the whole motif. It’s not all soft, though, as they mix a healthy dose of The Mothers of Invention into their Soft Machine. The ambient experimental ending of the epic third track is always interesting, especially as it leads into a more rock-driven ending to the album.
