France, 1977, Auvergnat folk / French folk / avant-folk

Emmanuelle Parrenin – Maison rose: So much mystery and beauty packed into this one, hypnotizing the listener. Parrenin went around and collected songs from rural France, and the producer arranged experimental renditions of the songs in the recording of the album.
French folk has a sort of natural “sophistication” that I don’t see in other folk. It is always enjoyable, though.
