USA, 1977, film score / orchestral
John Williams / London Symphony Orchestra – Star Wars: This is basically opera music, with all the passion and storytelling of an epic. It’s hard to think of anything to say about this film score because, well, it’s Star Wars. It’s as ingrained into the cultural consciousness as anything. This film score has everything: triumph and terror, delicacy and introspection, anthems and arias. I recommend to anyone who is a fan of orchestral music to listen to this film score and just approach it as music, not as part of the film we all know.
